Dear Friday

Dear Strep Throat, This week I surely struggled on the health aspect of my life - damn you strep throat why did you have to come for an unwelcomed visit. I am NEVER sick, but in the last two months have had a sinus infection, flu and now strep?!?!!? Not fun at all! Luckilly, I caught it in time and was able to get on some medicine and am feeling good just in time for the weekend!

 

Dear Swimming, The Olympic swimming time trials were on last night and it made me reminance about my glory days of being a swimmer. Oh how I miss it. I watched them swim the butterfly (my old event) and wondered if my body could even move like that anymore... summer goal?!

 

Dear Giant Ferris Wheel, I am so excited about this new addition to the Seattle Waterfront. It is a little on the spendy side but will have to be a date night activity this summer!

I was asked to bring a salad to a party last week and I obviously went to the best recipe book online - Pinterest! I threw together this yummy salad and it was such a hit!

John and I wanted to have a low key anniversary night (we are celebrating when we go to Florida)! I got home from work and he had a sweet card, beautiful bouquet of flowers and a new Willow Tree figurine sitting on the table. He started giving me these every Christmas for the past 5 years and we even used one as our cake topper for our wedding. The Willow Tree he got me for our anniversary was "You and Me".. what a sweetie!

One Year Anniversary

Tomorrow John and I celebrate our one year anniversary. I have loved married life so much and am so blessed with the life John and I have together and I constantly cherish the friendship, laughter and companionship we have developed. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I can't wait for all of the fun years ahead.

I know every girl says this - but my wedding day was the perfect day. I woke up one year ago with butterflies, not the nervous kind but the happy "this is right" kind of butterflies.  The day called for rain but I knew things would stick to plan and I would have an outdoor wedding (our venue had an indoor  area "just in case"). I woke up early that morning at my parents house and went to the computer where my Dad was already sitting at - looking at the hour by hour forecast. 

Every part of the day had special moments. I remember taking in every single detail and feeling. John and I had so much fun with our photographer and she captured every detail we desired for this day.

I was so proud of how all of the little things turned out. As a bride you spend so much time and energy with the vision of the day and mine is exactly what I wanted and so much more.

My Bridal Party was AMAZING! It was a true blessing having our closest friends be apart of our special day. 

And our Families were so supportive, loving and proud!

Our Ceremony was so special. I was the most calm bride and I loved being surrounded by all of my family and friends that were all gathered to celebrate something so right.

We spent the rest of the evening dancing, toasting and celebrating the night away!!

What is your all time favorite song? I have to say my all time favorite songs are anything 1990's Britney Spears! 

What is your favorite singer/band: I love anything country! Right now it would be to hard to pick out but I love Sarah Evans, Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean and my list of country favorites goes on and on... I love Michael Buble, James Morrison and Ray LaMontagne too!

What is your theme song/song that best describes your life? The Hill's theme song "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingield. My life story is never complete and I have a full life ahead of me that still needs to be written! 

What is your favorite road-trip music? Anything boy band! N'SYNC, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees and then of course Spice Girls and maybe a little bit of Snoop Dog. 

What song are you embarrassed to admit you love? Anything Justin Bieber.. but I own up to it and 

people know I love him.

Dear Friday

Dear Rain, Why on earth did you have to come back? I was loving the fabulous two days of sun we were having.

Dear 1^st Anniversary, We had a nice picnic planned.. but we looked at the weekend forecast and it is predicting 61 and rain. No thanks! Time to think up something new!

Dear John, Thank you for being the most amazing, loving and caring person I know. I love being your wife and most of all your best friend.

Dear Gym, Please be nice to me tomorrow when I come in for personal training. My body is still sore from yesterday’s session.

Dear KC and Bentley, You both are good dogs – but have only spent one weekend together. Let’s make weekend #2 together a good one!

Dear Brother, Good luck on your police academy test! I am excited for your future and love watching things fall in to place for you.

Dear Saturday and Sunday Morning, I am so excited that I get to sleep in both mornings! Finally a weekend of no early morning wake ups!

It's Okay Thursday

It's okay that last night I skipped out on going to the gym to cacth up on The Realhousewives of Orange County, New York and New Jersey!

It's okay that I leave for vacation in two weeks and have already started packing.

It's okay that I love Justin Bieber.

It’s okay that I woke up thinking it was Monday – but it being Thursday makes my day that much better.

It’s okay that when I got to work today and saw that my new printer was set up I was overly and weirdly excited over it.

It’s okay that I wish I was in England celebrating Prince William’s 30^th birthday with him.

It’s okay that tomorrow I am waking up extra early to go for a walk before work.

It’s okay that I love Pinterest so much.  It has become my go to for everything in life!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

While a majority of the country is experiencing a heat wave, good 'ol Washington State finally is enjoying its first day of sunshine in FOREVER. The June-uary weather we have been having this month has been miserable and I am so happy to celebrate a sunny day!!!!! On my drive in to work this morning people were out running the lake, walking with friends, sunglasses on and people looked happy! What a great way to kick of summer!

I love walking through my neighborhood and seeing flowers in full bloom - especially the peonies. I love peonies so much and was delighted when our neighbors brought us over a beautiful bouquet of them (I had secretly been plotting a time to go over and cut some myself)!! Then, to my surprise I arrived to work and a co-worker brought me a bouquet from her yard! It feels good being surrounded by beautiful colors, happy people and sunny days!



Love on a Tuesday

I think life is so fast paced for so many of us that we do not take time for ourselves and our families to recognize and celebrate the good in our day, week, month or year. Motivational Monday

This quote says it all for me.  My life is so by a routine. I do not like challenges, change or the extra push to do something new.  I go to restaurants and always order the same thing. I go on the same morning walk route. My gym routine is the same bike 20 mins, treadmill 20 mins and weights 20 mins. My life is very vanilla and I need to give myself that extra push to do something new.

My weekend was spent camping! Five other couples that we are really close with traveled over the mountains and spent a great weekend at the lake! My stomach hurt from laughing so hard and I just felt so at peace sitting by the fire with all of my friends. Luckily the weather did cooperate and we only got rained on a little bit Saturday night.

We made it home from our camping adventure in time to celebrate my Dad with a delicious BBQ! Happy Father's Day to my Dad - you have taught me integrity, compassion and how to love. You have always been my protector and have been someone I turn to through the good and bad moments in life. Thank you for being the man that you are!

And just because I am loving pinterest so much, I just need to share my future bedroom inspiration. I am slightly obsessed with grey and white color combinations these days!

A Little About Me

Since I am new to the world of blogging - I decided you might want to know some fun facts about the girl behind "Somethin Bout a Truck". 

I am a lover of God - my religion and faith is very important to me.

I am a newlywed. I was married on June 25, 2011 to the most amazing man.

I love the water. I swam on swim team's from age 5-18. I was a lifeguard, taught swim lessons, and coached a swim team. I miss it.

I love to dance like a fool at weddings. Free alcohol and music makes me bust a move.

I am an outgoing person. However, when I am in different situations that are new to me I get very unsure of myself, quiet and worry.

When I was a child my family went to Cannon Beach every summer. In July of 2009, John and I got engaged there - making Cannon Beach that much more special to me.

I love to read. An ideal day for me would be sunny, by a pool, with a good book!

I love to travel.

I wish Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake would get back together. They were made for each other. I still have hope.

Yes, I was that close to him - Yes, we touched hands.

I love playing games. Board games, card games, road trip games.. you name it! I thank my parents and cousins for my love of games!

My mom is my best friend. I do not know what my life would be like without her.

I live in the most beautiful city around and love playing tourist in Seattle.

I live for my family and my friends. My life is full of love and happiness because of them.

I am a Boston Red Sox fan.

I love being a wife, daughter, sister, aunt and all of the titles I hold in my life.
